Dr. Ruffino took over my elderly mother's care in the hospital while I was out sick. My mother has dementia and had hip surgery. He overmedicated her and kept her basically sedated for days. She was unable to keep her eyes open and eat as well as perform any physical therapy. He 'assumed' she had congestive heart failure because 'everyone over 80yrs old has congestive heart failure'. She has another issue and he hadn't looked at her chart. He restricted her fluids which also nearly caused dehydration. I argued with him about his assumptions because I knew more about her medical history than he did. She declined while under his medical care. His excuse was that he took over and didn't have her under his care the entire hospital stay. Stay far far away from his medical care!
