I just left my initial appointment with Dr. Seale. As an advanced diabetic, I was mainly there to obtain the needed referral to an Endocrinologist. Dr. Seale entered the room with a stern and less than welcoming manner. He then sat down and started asking me about why I was there. I told him about the two specific blood tests that I’m interested in which indicate insulin levels and insulin resistance. Dr. Seale was not familiar with those specific tests, which was fine, but then he told me I was “talking in circles”, which I did take offense to, since I was knowledgeable on the topics and he obviously wasn’t. I told him I wasn’t talking in circles, but rather he didn’t have the map of the topics I was discussing, which possibly made it seem like circles to him. His ego couldn’t handle that. I must have insulted his fragile environment by not immediately submitting to his doctoral authority. He asked me to leave, wouldn’t give me a referral, and looked like he was wanting to fight me. I called him out on that, and I could see he was doing everything he could to contain his rage, presumably that anyone would have done any self education on their disease outside of his typical method. I have no idea what he would have recommended or prescribed as our encounter lasted maybe 5 minutes. I am happy he managed to not assault me, as the anger and redness clearly indicated was a possibility. It’s unbelievable the lack of any modicum of professionalism. I have no idea how this unhinged man became a doctor with such a fragile ego and thin skin. I guess I’m back to looking for a doc that isn’t just interested in more and more meds.
