During a medical visit, I presented with serious and familiar symptoms related to blood clots. Despite having a documented history of life-threatening clotting disorders, I was discharged without any imaging—no ultrasound, no CT scan, and no further testing. I was simply told to continue taking blood thinners and to follow up with my regular provider.Later that same day, I went to another hospital where imaging revealed massive blood clots in my portal vein, splenic vein, and superior mesenteric vein. These are extremely serious and required immediate emergency intervention. I was admitted to the ICU for several days, underwent a TIPS procedure, thrombectomy, embolization, and was treated for sepsis as a result of internal bleeding caused by the delayed care.This situation could have ended very differently had imaging been done from the start. I am sharing this not out of anger, but out of a need to advocate for others.
