Patient Reviews

I have a long history of should problems. Our close family friend is the frmr chairmen of the board at the Cleveland Clinic. He knew about my shoulder and recommended that I see Dr. Iannotti. Everything started well - Dr. Iannotti was responsive, he provided me with a direct number, and suggested that he would present my case to a conference of surgeons. I was excited and hopeful. Unfortunately, good care ended there. I tried twice to call his office to find out what happened and never heard back. My PT showed me the video of Dr. Iannotti discussing my case with a panel. I’m not going to lie - it was a pretty disheartening gut punch. First, he let the panel talk about me as if I was looking for narcotics. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Second, though he acknowledged there was something mechanically wrong with the joint, he said “it could be a brain problem.” I’m not going to dignify that with a response. He said a red flag for him was that I saw surgeons outside of NE Ohio though there were plenty of good ones there. First, if he had gotten a full history, he would have known that I had seen/been operated on by NE Ohio surgeons. I consider myself very fortunate and blessed to be able to travel and consult with leaders on specific issues. I would much rather travel for pleasure. If I sought another opinion, it was due to the fact that multiple surgeons disagreed with one another. What is a patient supposed to do with such disagreements? Finally, the fact that he couldn’t call or email me back (even to say he couldn’t help) is telling. My family and I always thought of the Cleveland Clinic as a hospital that employed surgeons that take on complicated cases and don’t run from adversity. We were very wrong.
