I switched to dr powell from another OB because I could not get in with that person anymore and it was extremely frustrating. She understood this of course and making appointments with her seemed to be easy and without hassle. If I needed something that needed immediate attention I felt that she was pretty good at being there. Over the years though, it ended up being her NP I would have to see because she was just too busy. And then in time I would just go to the urgent care instead because if I can't see my doctor anyways then what does it matter. There was a point I was interested in children but once I learned my odds, that kind of went out the window. These days I feel she has become Uber focused on babies and everything to do with them and that's all that matters. I went to her with other concerns and she brought up children and seemed to continue to push the subject which made me and my main concerns feel more undervalued as a patient. This visit in particular was difficult to get. I scheduled it way in advance, even requesting off work for it and he office called me asking if I could reschedule. Are you kidding me!? I'm not sure if she felt guilty or what but she ended up coming in earlier that day instead of the afternoon. Not the first time that had happened. I had my scheduled for a month out and had an urgent issue so I tried scrolling with her. "Dr powell is off for this two weeks". Then I asked for the next week..."she had surgery that day"... so then I asked for the following week, "She's delivering this day". That was my breaking point. Done. Her vibe showed me she didn't care in our last appointment and I shouldn't have to wait that long to see my primary for an urgent issue. This is the definition of feeling undervalued.
