We saw Dr. Latchman and sadly our experience was disappointing. As anxious parents, we hoped for reassurance and guidance, but her demeanor felt apathetic and dismissive. She relied on outdated software, which didn’t inspire confidence given how quickly genetics advances. When some test results looked promising, she dismissed them without discussion, leaving us feeling like hope was taken away rather than thoughtfully explained. Most discouraging was her emphasis on the worst-case scenario, making it seem inevitable. Later, a top neuromuscular neurologist told us the milder form of the disease was actually more probable, which made it frustrating that Dr. Latchman had not acknowledged this possibility. We also felt little effort was made to research or explore helpful resources. Families navigating rare conditions deserve empathy, updated tools, and a balanced, thorough approach — unfortunately, we did not experience that here.
