Unfortunately the assistant didn't even attempt a traditional eye test or even a modified one for my special needs child, even though I requested it. The doctor tried gaslighting me, falsely stating her assistant tried the eye chart test . Once the doctor admitted and apologized her assistant DIDN'T do that exam, she said we could try it... mind you after my son had already received the eye drops which dilated his pupils (for examining the eyes and the optic nerve), and now his vision was fuzzy. So he COULDN'T do the eye chart exam. And to top it off, the assistant was giving me a difficult time about doing the autorefractor machine exam on my son's eyes, which she mentioned the doctor didn't normally use the machine unless completely necessary. I had to insist she go back to the doctor to get her approval for that test. ...in particular because my child is almost non-verbal, had NO eye chart exam done to go by to determine his new eye glasses. What a terrible experience.
