Bedside manner aside-I presented to the ED at Buchanan General in Grundy, VA with a facial laceration above my eyebrow. Rather than best practice of local lidocaine and sutures, he used an ineffective topical cold spray then proceeded to use staples ON MY FACE. Not only did some of the staples not line up with the wound, but they ended up folding the skin under itself and 10 days later the wound is not closed. Now I am getting an outside referral to plastic surgery to fix it. His care has prolonged healing, increased the risk of infection, increased the timeline and expense of proper healing. Avoid being seen by this man if at all possible; his dismissive attitude and reckless methods are dangerous to patients.
