My father-in-law was a patient of Dr. Vogel's. Dr. Vogel told us when my father-in-law had a catheter that there was absolutely no way to prevent infections caused by the catheter use. Later, I learned that studies have been ongoing since 2005 that show that the use of a checklist can drastically reduce UTI and other catheter related infections. Meanwhile, my dear father-in-law was check list free and getting what we thought were unavoidable and endless UTI's that drastically lowered the quality and duration of the end of his life. It is disappointing to trust a doctor and find out that what they are telling you is the opposite of the truth. Also, as a side note, the wait times in the waiting room were ridiculous.
