Dr. Maureen Lefkoff, DDS

I went to Dr. Lefkoff for possible mouth cancer. She did a quick exam, put something in my mouth and left me with a technician whose focus was his cell phone; he was oblivious when I started gagging. By the time she returned, I was visibly shaking. I explained my dental anxiety and asked if she could prescribe anti-anxiety medication when I came back for the procedure; she said no. She described the procedure as using something like a hole punch to remove a tunnel of my gum. I asked about the hole that would be left and she shrugged it off. When she tried to continue the exam I was shaking badly. She told me I had to stop shaking. When I couldn't stop she told me she wouldn't be able to work on me. They gave me an estimate anyway. The next periodontist I saw said the procedure she described was very outdated. He prescribed anti-anxiety meds, which really worked, and scooped out a small area of gum that quickly healed. Less than half the cost, too! I'm so glad I went elsewhere!
