I came to the ER today in tears after 5 days of sciatic pain and no amount of steroids, anti-inflammatories, or muscle relaxers were giving me relief. I never go to the ER unless necessary, but the pain had become overwhelming.Dr. Chipman came in and immediately put me at ease. He listened to everything I had to say and reassured me that I wasn’t going to leave without some form of relief. He laid out a plan of possible interventions and started with an osteopathic adjustment.What impressed me most was his expertise and confidence. With one hand stabilizing my sacral area and the other guiding my leg, he worked through the spasms in my muscle. He could actually feel when the spasms released, and he patiently held and adjusted until the muscle let go more and more. In minutes, the clenched muscle that had been tormenting me finally released. I left completely relieved after feeling hopeless. This was the first time a doctor tried and alternative option for me and I am so grateful.
