First, I look for a skilled surgeon. After that I “hope“ or a doctor I can talk with, who explains what he is doing and follows up after surgery. Dr Bentz is all that and more. As a surgeon, he’s at the top of his class. But so much more… He has “old school“ bedside manner, he takes the time to fully communicate the procedure and explain in words, I can understand, his bedside manner after surgery and his continuing follow up are a great surprise… often doctors today have quotas but I never feel that with him. He makes me seem like I’m the only patient on his list before during and after the surgery. At a “teaching hospital“ it’s great to watch him truly lead a team of other newer doctors and residents and give them an example of how it should be done. Dr Bentz made a difficult surgery, less scary and followed up over and over with the same skill, care, and concern. If you were lucky enough to get dr Bentz, you will be very lucky indeed.
