Lied to my face about lab results. I went in because I, a chronically ill patient, suspected I had developed metabolic acidosis. This is something I have a past history of. I asked for a blood gas to confirm. Dr. Eastman was avoiding the answer when he came to give me the results so I interrupted and flat out asked 'Do I or do I not have metabolic acidosis?' Very crystal clear, leaves no room for misunderstanding. He said 'You do not have metabolic acidosis.' I did not believe him. I checked my patient portal when I got home. Very clearly metabolic acidosis. With my unique medical history, I need to know IMMEDIATELY if I have metabolic acidosis because it means my essential medication needs an immediate adjustment, which I had told him at the ER. I didn't even ask him to make an adjustment. I knew what needed to be done. I just needed the correct info to make the decision before I got worse and so I could move forward with the rest of my care team.
