As a retired Sacred Heart RN, I wish this practitioner had stronger listening skills. Her first remarks were devoted to critiquing my family doctor’s prescription for doxycycline for what was “obviously” a viral upper respiratory infection. An attempt to explain my long pulmonary history was waved off as irrelevant. I had a virus which should run its course in ten days or so. Deal with it. Take the rest of the prescription if you want but it won’t do anything. Nevertheless, I tried to explain my early bronchoscopy and dx of bronchiectasis, the residual damage to my bronchial cilia and my marked tendency to secondary bacterial infections. This seemed to fall on deaf ears (as though bronchiectasis was not a life-long issue.)Peacehealth Urgent Care is lucky it has other extraordinary support staff who more than offset a rare encounter with a caregiver such as this. Some doctors forget you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression. And some just don’t care.
