Our daughter had tubes put in with Dr. Calloway at the end of February 2023. His bedside manner is mediocre at best, but based off previous reviews I felt confident about him being a good surgeon. The first night home after surgery her left ear was bleeding in the middle of the night. The on call dr said it’s normal even though all discharge papers said call immediately with any bright red blood discharge. Fast forward to her six week postoperative appointment and both of her tubes are completely blocked. We went in for a hearing test and the audiologist asks my husband if our daughter has tubes..at our postop appointment?? The right ear is clogged with wax and the left ear is clogged with a blood clot. We were told to try saline drops and follow up in six months. I asked the dr what would happen if they’re still clogged at the next follow up and he said he’d possibly have to go into the OR with her again to clean them out and see what else might be going on. As a first time mom, of course I’m going to question what else may be going on. He proceeds to make mention of a rare brain tumor. My husband and I were horrified. So, off we went with saline drops and a follow up in six months. I cried the whole car ride home. We have been on two rounds of antibiotics since the tubes were placed. They can’t even see her left ear drum at the pediatricians office. Her most recent sick visit was this past Friday and she has a terrible right ear infection and her left ear now has a blood clot in the tube as well as one around the tube. She’s on antibiotics..again. The pediatricians office said it’s essentially like she has no tubes in her ears since they’re not functioning. So, now we paid all of this money toward our deductible and relief for our daughter for what? Even more upsetting than the money, is that our daughter is no better and now we have to go seek another opinion and find someone to fix this awful issue. Long story short, I do not recommend Dr. Calloway.
