Patient Reviews

What I witnessed at the Mercy St. Louis ER was deplorable to the point that months later I want to be sure my review is seen. My significant other was on the floor from sudden severe neck pain and was taken to the ER by ambulance. Long wait as per usual, which was fine, typically what you’d expect at the mercy ER. He was seen by Dr. N Smith. Dr. N Smith was very dismissive of his pain, did not take him seriously even though it was so severe he couldn’t even walk, told us they could not do an MRI even though I've had one for stomach pain at the same hospital, maybe there is a genuine reason for that I am not entirely sure. The doctor had a horrible attitude which is sometimes expected. I understand working at an ER is difficult but it was made very evident he did not want to put his best foot forward. My partner is usually pretty jaded about hospital trips, tries to avoid them as much as possible unless its serious and said to me “we should not have came here, they do not want to do any kind of actual testing or help” Dr. N Smith proceeded to say something along the lines of “Im prescribing you muscle relaxers you F. ing A. hole ” and briskly walked away. I know I said along the lines of but I can promise the word “a hole” was used towards my partner though and thats the main point. I was stunned that someone who is supposed to be a medical professional called a patient out of their name like that and walked out of the room. My partner was not being belligerent, never did anything to deserve being called an A. HOLE by a DOCTOR. I don’t believe a man who cannot control their composure, especially towards a patient who was not even doing anything wrong, should be a doctor, he should be sitting in therapy. I don’t even want to imagine how Dr. N Smith would act in an actual altercation or serious scenario.

I know I said along the lines of but I can promise the word “a**hole” was used towards my partner though and thats the main point. The rest of the staff except for one technician, were also very unprofessional and dismissive about it and would not inform me of who I should contact about this situation, its not right. If there is footage with audio in the hospital, it should be reviewed from Exam room 1 on August 9th, 2025 around 3:00-4:30am.
