It’s a shame I am leaving a negative review. I previously went to Dr. Sroa and had a positive experience. I am a caretaker for my Mother with dementia and wanted her to switch her dermatology care to Dr. Sroa after my visit. I called the office and informed them I was making an appointment for my Mother, who has dementia, and they allowed me to set the appointment. Every appointment reminder was sent to me since I am keeping track of appointments and I am responsible for getting my Mother to and from appointments as well. On appointment day we are there 15 minutes earlier than our appointment time. After we have paid for the appointment and we are completing paperwork we notice signs posted stating only the patient is allowed in the room with the Doctor. I speak to the front desk staff about the signs and let them know my Mother has dementia and I need to be with her to give prior medical history and answer any questions on her behalf. They were aware that I have medical power of attorney and I am legally entitled to be included in any medical care decisions for my Mother. The front desk staff told me it was up to the Nurse if I would be allowed in the room with my Mother. After an additional 30 minute wait my Mother is called back and she immediately lets the nurse know that she has memory issues and that she needs me to accompany her. The nurse told her I would not be allowed back to the room with her and that was the Doctor’s decision. The nurse let us know that I could be called back only if they decided my Mother needed a procedure or medication. If you are helping someone else try to get their medical needs met this is not the practice for you. If you are a caretaker for someone else you can empathize with how frustrating and devastating it can be to rearrange your schedule and get time off of work for someone else and have it be a waste of time. Especially when you are caring for someone with dementia and overcoming the anxiety of going to a new care provider proved to be a bad experience.
