My mother was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. As a part of her treatment plan, she would need to receive steroids before chemotherapy. Due to my mom having Type 2 Diabetes, she raised concern over the steroids increasing her blood sugar. We asked if she could get a glucose monitor prescribed for further observation. Especially on the days she would receive steroids, which would be the day of the chemotherapy infusion and the day after. He said, 'Well, I do not care about your blood sugar.' I was appalled. The entire time he spoke with us, it felt like he was going through the motions. He was nonchalant and demeaning. Leaving the appointment, I felt like he was treating the cancer instead of the patient.
