Patient Reviews
Dec 16, 2025
If you are newly diagnosed, I suggest you look elsewhere if you're hoping for (or expecting) an oncologist that cares enough to try to catch recurrence/metastasis early - I wish I had. Dr. Dillon dismissed my reports of ongoing unintentional weight loss, abdominal pain, and night sweats, repeatedly. It was only after I wrote a letter detailing my concerns with the quality of care I received at UVA Breast Cancer Center that he offered to do some testing; however, he stated in that call that he 'found it disappointing that it fell to him.' If it's not the role of an oncologist to monitor for metastasis, recurrence, or new cancers in their oncology patients, then what, exactly, is the function of the oncologist on the care team if chemo is not recommended? Why even have an oncologist? What is the point of expensive copays for specialist follow up visits? I sincerely believe he does not care if I live or die, as long as it doesn't inconvenience him.
