While my initial experience with Dr Gauger was fine, it took a turn for the worst when my hyperparathyroidism returned a mere six weeks after the surgery. I had a parathyroidectomy with Dr Gauger in Sept 2024. While all appeared to go well, six weeks later my symptoms came back. I waited six months for the hormones to settle down before he would see me and not until after I did an expensive 4D-CTscan. At my appointment he discounted my symptoms and basically told me repeating surgery was risky so I should just live with it. He must not believe his patients when they tell him how lousy they feel or else why would he have such a lack of compassion and concern. My scans all showed the same result but wouldn’t believe it and asked for more tests. When he asked for venous sampling, an invasive procedure most specialists advise against, I found a new surgeon who quickly and effectively fixed my concern. Gauger can’t accept when he messes up and doesn’t care about his patients. Go elsewhere.
