If you need any sort of specialized knowledge, do not go to Matel. My father, with an at-risk history of cancer, saw him and he did no screenings or anything that is recommended once he started developing a cough Waited almost 8 months to even do an xray to find out there was stage 4 cancer. When I attended an appointment with my father, I read his interests in the patient office and he's interested in pediatrics - so makes since he knows nothing about treating geriatrics, doing logical screenings based on health history, and providing preventative care. I'm still trying to convince my mother who still has him as a primary to switch. While I don't hold him responsible for my father's death, I do hold him responsible as his physician for him not having as long of a life as he should have for a person with access to preventative medical care. If he's not interested in treating Geriatric patients, then he should not accept them. He should only see kids which is his only interest.
