My husband was assessed by Dr Zuckerman and was determined to be ready for discharge though he was brought in via ambulance earlier that same day due to diminished cognition, inability to walk, loss of bowel and bladder, diarrhea, vomiting and slurred speech. Upon discharge my husband still could not ambulate independently, was still slurring his words, and could not recall how he got out of the hospital or how he got into the house. This is a man that prepares meals, toilets independently, is able to dress himself, and resides fairly independently many hours of each day but on this day could not even walk independently, get in and out of the car on his own, unfasten his seat belt, walk, or toilet himself on his own. I'm curious what assessment criteria Dr Zuckerman used to make these discharge decisions because my husband was in no way at his baseline functional level. Never once did anyone e from the hospital ask about safety risks or barriers to entering the home if discharged. Sa
