My mother was a patient. She went to Russo multiple times from the period of November 2021 to March 2022 with extreme fatigue, malaise, shortness of breath, difficulty urinating, and rapid heart rate. Russo continually switched the blood pressure medicine that she took, with no improvement in her condition. Her condition worsened. Meanwhile, despite my mom's repeated follow up with him, Russo said he really didn’t know what else to do. He failed to investigate the source of her chief complaint of extreme exhaustion with rapid heart rate. I later discovered that differential diagnosis should call for blood culture to look for endocarditis. It wasn’t until another doctor finally did a blood culture relative to her heart that an infection was found. This routine blood test finally prescribed by his colleague, confirmed Endocarditis (heart infection). Her heart valve was completed infested with bacteria by the time the blood culture was prescribed, which was five months after her reported symptoms to Russo. Devastatingly, by the time the belated blood test revealed the Endocarditis, her heart valve was too destroyed by the infection and she was terminal and passed away.
