Dr. Ram Velamati was the doctor who cared for my son, Finn, who was born at 29 weeks very unexpectedly and quickly and we will forever be thankful for his swift and thorough care. I was traveling home from NYC and ended up being taken by ambulance to Resurrection (closest to O'hare) and arrived at the hospital fully dilated and ready for the baby to be born. Given there were no complications or anticipations of early labor and the early gestational age (29+4) I was in complete shock. Dr. Velamati was the attending Neonatologist and the immediate steps he took when Finn was born and shortly after are what we attribute to how well he is doing in the NICU. Everything happened so quickly, he had no time to be briefed or prepared for this delivery or the baby's arrival and what he did that day so quickly was incredible. Our baby was transferred to Northwestern that night (our regular hospital/practice for care) and, to-this-day, the Neonatologists at Northwestern continues to praise Dr. Velamati and his team for the care they give Finn (born 5/15/25). We truly could not be more thankful and feel so lucky we had him as part of the care during what was a very surprising and traumatic day. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. Would recommend to anyone!
