Terrible Experience – My Sudden Severe Symptoms Were Completely Dismissed I had an extremely disappointing experience with this GI doctor. I waited three months to be seen after I suddenly developed severe abdominal distention. This did NOT happen gradually. It happened suddenly, just 10 days after my breast reconstruction surgery. My stomach became extremely swollen — literally looking like I am six months pregnant overnight. When I finally saw the doctor, he did not even physically examine my abdomen. He did not check my stomach at all. Instead, he simply stated that previous tests ordered by other doctors showed nothing was wrong and did not offer any further evaluation or order additional testing. My symptoms are severe, visible, and ongoing. After leaving that appointment feeling dismissed and unheard, I started researching on my own. I read about possible causes like SIBO and tried taking probiotics myself — but nothing improved. My abdomen remains severely distended. I also started weight loss shuts and have lost more than 20 pounds, yet my stomach distention has not changed at all. This clearly shows it is not simply weight-related. I saw a liver specialist as well. They mentioned I may have very mild fatty liver, but clearly stated that minor fatty liver would NOT cause this type of severe abdominal swelling. Because I felt dismissed, I requested to transfer to another GI doctor within the same practice for a second opinion. I even mentioned a specific doctor I wanted to see. The office refused to transfer me. I escalated the issue to the GI Department Manager. She said she would try to help, but the only solution offered was an appointment with a nurse practitioner first — with another three-month wait. After already waiting three months once, being told to wait another three months for a nurse practitioner before being allowed to see another physician is unacceptable. I simply want a second opinion, which my insurance allows. Instead, I feel blocked from accessing proper care. Patients with sudden, severe, and unexplained symptoms deserve to be examined properly, taken seriously, and allowed to seek another medical opinion without obstruction. I would not recommend this provider.
