I had an appointment with Doctor Barnett on April 21, 2021. It was suggested by another doctor in the office and multiple medical books and articles that if you are 35 and older you seek medical advice if you are not pregnant within six months. So I scheduled an appointment in hopes to understand hormones and ovulation better. From the moment she walked in the room, it was made very clear that she was the well-educated doctor and I did not know how my reproductive system works. Dr. Barnett even suggested “maybe you aren’t doing it right” in reference to trying to conceive and told me that “if I enjoyed doing it” this shouldn’t be a problem. I left this appointment feeling uncomfortable, uncertain, and disrespected. I would not trust Dr. Barnett to properly care for me and an unborn child as she did not utilize a great deal of medical and scientific facts in my appointment. I would also like to reiterate that practicing positivity is NOT a substitute for medical or scientific facts.
