Backstory: My poor 92 year old dad, on 19 medications, and sent to a dozen specialists by his Hoag HMO Primary Care Doctor over the past few years. With his body failing, my father had begged for palliative care to Hoag HMO for the past few months and was denied twice. Where Dr. Mansour comes in: On my dad's 7th hospital visit in 2 months, Dr. Mansour was his hospitalist. Once I talked to him and we reviewed his history, he quickly agreed that "if your dad is not eligible for hospice, who is". So, he held him overnight, approved him for hospice, and the family smartly selected a NON HOAG hospice, and my dad is no longer suffering. Thank you Dr. Mansour for stepping in when his Hoag HMO PCP would not.
