After suffering a shoulder injury, I was referred to Dr. Fan for consult. Upon meeting with him, essentially his view was 'Yeah, you ruptured your bicep, what do you want to do?'. Well, YOU are the Doctor, not me. After hurriedly answering my wife & I's questions, it was put to me as such: 'You won't suffer any long term impairment if you do nothing. In 6 months you'll be back to almost normal.' That was it. No request for further imaging, nothing. Upon seeking a 2nd opinion, my next surgeon requested an MRI. That MRI discovered that not only did I have the obvious bicep rupture, but 2 tears in my rotator cuff & a SLAP tear in my labrum. Back to normal in 6 months, huh?
