October 5th 2021 I had been laboring all night with my 5th baby. We had planned on having a home birth. Labor didn’t progress as fast as it had with the other 4 and around 7 am I felt “done”. My midwife had noticed that the baby must have flipped and we rush to the hospital. Immediately they roll me into the OR but Dr Southwick says “We know your body can handle this you are going to have this baby but it has to be in the OR incase we need to perform a C-section.” After sharing my experience with others I realize how rare this is! For my short stay at the hospital for be nurses all said the right doctor was there at the right time. I’m truly thankful that he allowed me and empowered me to make the choice of having my son vaginally. He was truly god sent. When I told him I couldn’t thank him enough he was so humble and replied “No thank you for having other children and doing most of the work at home and having a wonderful midwife.” He’s such an amazing doctor!
