I had been seeing Dr. Pena to treat my type-1 diabetes for a couple of years. I had an appointment scheduled for this coming Friday. Last week I found out from my primary care physician who works in the same building that Dr. Pena has taken a new job and will no longer be my endocrinologist. She no longer is in the office. There is no answer on the phone line. She never informed me that I do not have an endocrinologist anymore. My diabetic supplies weren't shipped because they need a doctor's authorization, and I no longer have a doctor. As she didn't tell me I would be without a doctor, I didn't have time to set up an appointment with a new endocrinologist, and she certainly didn't give me a referral for someone who could take over my care. What a terrible betrayal all around.
