Under Dr. Hostetter's care my dad, who is in his late 70s, has 1) suffered a months-long dangerous roller coaster ride of fluctuating triglyceride levels that led to barely-controllable nosebleeds, extreme pain in his leg, & the eventual need for surgery; 2) taken a BP med for 10 years that he didn't need; & 3) not received any follow-up about a high PSA level. Many of these negative health experiences could have been prevented. Arranging a visit to examine the cause of fluctuating triglyceride levels (which appears to have been a drug contraindication), ensuring the use of a prescribed INR home monitor, or suggesting an alternative med could have stopped the roller coaster ride. A periodic reevaluation of meds could have discovered the need to cut the BP med. A phone call, or even just a mention of the PSA level in a subsequent checkup, could have ensured that Dad followed through with the recommended scan. My dad could have been saved a lot of pain if Dr. H had been more proactive.
