Our family recently had a loved one admitted to the inpatient unit at UnityPoint Meriter in Madison, WI. While the first few days were challenging, when his initial provider inexplicably refused to communicate with us, we were optimistic when Dr. Maudlin took over as primary provider.Despite having a release of information signed and guidance from the patient advocate, Dr Maudlin did not respond to repeated attempts to engage with our family caregiver team. We had hoped she would offer insights regarding her level of concern and provide recommendations for potential next steps, including other treatment facilities.After considerable effort, including repeated follow-ups and ultimately pleading for assistance, she agreed to a brief meeting at the very end of the business day. Unfortunately, the presence of the patient shifted the focus away from the critical conversation we had intended to have.We were unsupported and were left uncertain about the next steps in our loved ones care.
