Dr Tien entered the wrong field as she clearly lacks empathy or the ability to attempt to fake it. During fetal heart rate monitoring my baby’s heart rate dropped to a concerning level and I was told to go straight to labor and delivery for additional testing. Very stressful and scary. I told her I was very scared and processing. She looked highly uncomfortable and annoyed followed by a long pause before flatly answering “some things are out of our control” and then telling me someone would come to unhook me from monitors in a few minutes. Zero attempt at empathy or further explanation which may have provided some comfort. Can she control my baby’s medical concerns? No. But it doesn’t make is reasonable to be heartless to a mother concerned for her baby’s health and safety. I found her inability or perhaps unwillingness to navigate human emotions in such a potentially emotional setting unprofessional and inept. Surely delivering concerning or sad news cannot be uncommon in her field.
