I am absolutely LIVID with this office. My 84 year old mother has been waiting for almost a month for an appointment due to severe spinal pain. Advent Health hospital in DeLand made the appointment with Dr. Lavoie for her because they said she needed to see an orthopedic doctor after she went to ER and they did a kyphoplasty procedure to help alleviate the pain. Now, ON THE DAY OF her scheduled appointment, they call to tell her Dr. Lavoie refuses to see her because he did not do the procedure and she must do all follow up with the doctor who performed the procedure at the hospital. This would all be well and good if number one, there was such a doctor to follow up with and number two, his office had told us this a month ago when the appointment was made. You see, a radiologist performed the procedure in the hospital and he works for the hospital, so he does not have an office to do follow up appointments and he is not an orthopedic doctor. She needs to see an orthopedic doctor to address her spinal issues. We had high hopes that Dr. Lavoie would be the one to help her. Our hopes were shattered today. So now she's stuck in a never ending loop with no one to address her pain. Why on earth would Dr. Lavoie's office accept the appointment when the hospital called, if he had no intention of seeing her ever?? If they know he will only see patients he has performed procedures on?? Now, we have lost a full month of valuable time and have to start all over again and find another doctor. I have no idea if Dr. Lavoie is a good doctor or not, but I hold him responsible for his office staff who is obviously incompetent and reckless with their patient's health, if they don't first check to see if the doctor will actually accept the patient first.
