Patient Reviews
Aug 26, 2022
Took my daughter to Dr.Shikiar for a very painful, swollen lump on her hand. He said it "looked" like a ganglion cyst even though he mentioned it was in a strange location on her hand, not on the wrist. He decided that surgery was better than draining it because in case of an infection inside, he didn't want it to spread. He said an MRI was not necessary. I felt things were rushed so I asked his secretary/surgical coordinator for an MRI script & she obliged. The imaging place would not email me the results so I left messages for the surgical coordinator but she didn't respond. Surgery day, my daughter was prepped & in a gown already. Dr.Shikiar comes in, we explain about the MRI. He seemed a bit upset & said "I told you it was not necessary". I insisted, he went to get the results & came back with a weird & nervous look on his face. He says "there's a problem. this is not a ganglion cyst. Its tenosynovitis. I'm sorry I can't operate, I'll be sending her home." Wow! Do better Dr.Shikiar
