I had twisted my foot. After 2 weeks of varying levels of pain, I saw the doctor. X-rays were taken and she told me that basically my ankle was twisted, that I had a bit of arthritis in the ankle, and that I should wear high sided shoes. She thought it would get better within a week or two. The intense pain continued so I went to another podiatrist in another practice 2 weeks later. He looked at the same x-rays and told me that I had advanced degenerative arthritis 8n my ankle and that the twisted foot had aggravated it. He injected Cortisone into my ankle and the problem greatly abated after about three days.
