Dr. Susan Podray, DMD

Unfortunately there's no zero star rating here. At the time we engaged Dr Podray, the choice of either invisline-type or traditional bonded retainers were contractually offered upon brace removal. We have a special needs child who struggled with braces for whom only bonded retainers will work. Dr Podray agreed. When it came time to remove braces and install retainers however, Dr Podray’s staff refused to install bonded retainers for no logically explainable reasons, although we were provided an approximate 45 minute pitch by staff explaining in excruciating detail ow they would not install bonded retainers. Dr Podray was "unavailable" to meet, so we had to now reschedule a visit. We had to call on five different ocassions to secure the follow-up visit - being told that an in-person presence was required - Dr Podray would not speak by phone. My wife and I rescheduled our workplace meetings to meet on one of Dr Podray's only two available days several weeks in the future. While we arrived early, the meeting started ten minutes late and without Dr Podray, although she did arrive about five minutes later. From that point on, we subjected to a 20 minute Podray monologue about everything orthodontic - except our child's retainers. When we finally interrupted to bring the discussion to the retainer topic for which this meeting was specifically scheduled, Dr Podray had a temper tantrum and literally stormed out with the trailing statement that she had other patients to attend to - leaving her embarrassed adminstrator to apologize to us for her rudeness. At no time throughout this process did Dr Podray or anyone in her office explain to us why the specific reason(s) as to why they would not install bonded retainers - although we inquired on several ocassions - and which was clearly stated as necessary upon first interviewing her. After this review I'd anticipate as a final parting gesture a response from Dr Podray an insincere platitude about her disappointment with our perceived treatment - in order to placate her review-reading audience - although no such concern was in any way demonstrated during our visits. If you're seeking an ortho who will happily take your cash up-front, meet with you once only after much pleading and who will be dishonest, rude and aloof - Podray's your ortho. However, if your child's needs are your priority and you're looking for a professional who will actually agree to their stated contract terms and stand behind their work - keep on looking.
