I visited Dr. Kirk after having had 24 hours of intense pain with LLQ localization, nausea, and emesis. She ordered a CT; result: a dermoid teratoma attached to an ovary. She made it seem like further imaging was overkill and that I could be discharged home and follow-up with my gynecologist. I asked for time to think, as the pain was unbearable and I knew it could not be managed at home. I called a gyn I know who spoke to Dr. Kirk and said she’s concerned for torsion. Dr. Kirk was rude, interrupted her, and said I didn’t want further imaging. I then advocated for myself and had further imaging. She spoke to my OBGYN who demanded she have me seen by a gyn (Dr. Kirk earlier said she did not have gyn…??? But okay). He also said torsion. He couldn’t do the surgery needed at St. David’s so I left to go to the hospital my gyn was at. While leaving, Dr. Kirk says “You’re totally fine, there’s no way you have torsion.” Post op findings showed torsion to my left ovary with it torsed twice.
