Patient Reviews
May 07, 2025
I have never met Dr. Read, but my brother has been under his care at Shands. Every time Dr. Read has seen my brother, he has been very rude and condescending. He told my brother that there was nothing he could do and that he was not a candidate for surgery because of his we then signed off on him. The last time he saw my brother, he was rude again and said surgery wasn't an option. He made dismissive gestures while saying, 'I can't help him; don't call me again about this patient.' My brother never asked to see him in the first place; that's just how Shands operates—you see many different doctors. It is very sad that Dr. Read has been so rude when my brother is very sick with cancer. You would think a doctor would show some compassion and take the time to talk with the patient. Instead, Dr. Read made my brother feel like he was wasting his time, and my brother was beneath him. The notes in 'My Chart' reflect the same attitude. I would not recommend Dr. Read for anything.
