When patients come to see the doctor, they assume that their insurance will cover everything they want and everything they need. That is far from the truth. Every insurance has its own limitations and obligations because it is a contract you have with the insurance. I see many people frustrated because they expect to have all types of services on the same day of the office visit, and sincerely those days are gone. The insurance companies are only allowing us one or maybe two services per office visit unless they are previously approved. Please review your benefits and obligations copayments deductibles etc and stop taking the anger on the doctors. Especially the HMO plans that has a lot of restrictions and limitations, exclusions. There is nothing better than to take care of someone who is well informed and understands his/her benefits. We will be more productive towards the patient care, instead of dealing with the anger of the person due to lack of knowledge of his/her insurance.
