Very caring and intuitive. Dr. Nelson is not only extremely knowledgeable about sickle cell disease and SCD comorbidities,she has the experience to listen and suggest treatment according to her patients' individual needs. For years one of my my clients had an extremely adverse reaction to pain meds used to manage SCD crisis; other doctors repeatedly dismissed this reaction as "restlessness". When Dr. Nelson joined the team she immediately recognized my client was suffering a direct neuro-biologic effect of the pain meds which caused dangerous involuntary movements. (Including yanking her IV out and putting her head between the bed rails.) Dr. Nelson immediately added on a treatment to address the adverse effects, shorten my client's hospital admission,and, keep my client safe. I am truly grateful for her care.
