Gretchen Timmel freed me from the nightmare of public school as a young student with autism spectrum disorders. She was an advocate and a warrior against the school system that had given up on me. Because of her (and my incredibly supportive parents) I was able to be placed in a school that actually treated me with care. This was 17 years ago and I've since grown up to be a successful adult. The thing that stands out to me the most about her is the genuine compassion she extended to me and my family. She takes her job incredibly seriously and wasn't afraid to make enemies in order to rescue me. Gretchen, if you're reading this: Thank you for all you did for me. You saved my life.
