My PA referred me in April, the office never called me (for two months) so I called them to make an appt. I was sent to him for an ADHD test & no one told me it would be a series of appointments for this. I wasn't prepared for there to be consult and we would have to dig into about every aspect of my life. Having a heads up would be nice. But the most appalling part of my visit is that I was asked examples of why I have ADHD & one of those being that I've struggled with forgetfulness my whole life and this man said verbatim "Once your BMI is at 30, your brain mass shrinks by 4% & at 35 it shrinks even more." There are so many reasons why this is wrong but it isnt even a proven fact, there was one study done. BUT how is that even an appropriate response ever but especially from someone who is supposed to be a professional?! Medical fatphobia is already an issue with medical doctors but from a counselor that is supposed to improve mental health? Absolutely inappropriate and disgusting.
