This provider cut me off within the few first few minutes of explanation of my health history and wouldn't listen, demanded that I see my specialist. If she would have LISTENED, she would have realized that I am an educated professional doing research on my own chronic health condition and have extensive knowledge on it and the medication I was requesting was very basic and appropriate for primary care. Autonomy allows me to make my own healthcare decisions and healthcare providers are supposed to work with their patients as my previous one, who is unfortunately no longer there. Healthcare providers are not parents to be obeyed and patients are not children who are required to should not to obey. Healthcare providers should also not use their authority to withhold treatment from patients when it is perfectly appropriate to provide it within their scope of practice. That is exactly what she did when I decided to give her a second chance and told her how well I was responding to it.
