Good therapists are hard to find in Austin period, but especially during a pandemic. We thought we were lucky to have found Kaitlan Gibbons to help with our teen daughter’s issues. But from the start we had concerns, primarily that Dr. Gibbons didn’t seem to want to communicate with us parents on a regular basis. We felt we were in the dark in terms of what diagnosis and therapy would be best and when we took the initiative to meet to ask these questions, we encountered some defensiveness — almost a brick wall. We started becoming concerned that Dr. Gibbons was trying to extend the number sessions purely for profit. Our daughter’s situation was deteriorating and we parents were the ones who discovered what the true problem had been and it wasn’t the diagnosis that Dr. Gibbons gave. In fact, she sat on crucial information that would have spurred the immediate intervention that our daughter needed. Dr. Gibbons’s practice should be reviewed by the state board.
