Wasted my time for a month preventing me going to better suited therapist. Shamed patient for not regulating emotions when I shut down and froze trying to hold back tears. Then lectured me after the appointment ended about how that was a valid reaction from her to me shutting down and physically unable to speak with tight throat when something emotionally upset me about my past. I was unable to speak for did several minutes while all she did was berate and lecture me then at the end go back to that moment again to lecture me. Then she seemed to have gotten some common sense and felt ashamed about her behavior but instead of handling it maturely, she canceled my next appointment one hour before appointment by email telling me “she unfortunately can’t work with me” and to find someone else. Wasted a month of my time for one appointment which was useless since she just shamed and lectured me 5mins in and the rest of the appointment we got nowhere (and again, I paid to have someone lecture me about how I can’t shut down like that? What’s wrong with this woman.) She said we would do EMDR which is why I went with her but she shut me down everytime I brought it up to learn more about how it works and how to see if it’s right for me. Waste of time and set my trust in therapy back too, thanks for nothing. Way too abrasive and much too lacking in empathy for this profession. Inadvisable to go with her, she’ll just have you open up then leave you hanging. Or if you’re lucky she’ll berate you for being who you are. Ugh!
