My boyfriend and I had 2 couples counseling appointments with Lisa. During the 2nd one, she asked about my “other boyfriend”. Like a normal person, I only have the one boyfriend. She insisted that I had an African American guy with me the first time. My boyfriend is white. I had to explain multiple times that she had met the same man both times while she continued to insist otherwise. She seemed pretty out of it. She came off extremely judgmental when I shared what I struggle with, compared me to her kids and implied that her family handles their diagnoses more efficiently than I do. She also went on loooong tangents that had nothing to do with our care. When it was my boyfriend’s turn to share, she talked over him and chose to engage in a screaming argument with him. She doesn’t seem to have any grasp of her role to listen from a place of non-judgment and wanting to help, as every other therapist in my experience has. A strange experience that attempted to cause harm rather than good.
