I cannot in good faith recommend Mary as a therapist. After seeing the glowing reviews she had, I was very excited for her to be my therapist. I chose her specifically because she stated she was being trained in EMDR on her Grow therapy profile. In our first session, I mentioned that I would like to start that therapy modality sooner rather than later, and she looked at me like I was crazy and stated: "I am SO sorry. I am Not trained in EMDR" and shook her head. Confused, I told her that she has this clearly stated on her profile, and she should change this because it's clearly not accurate. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and knew our sessions would be numbered, because this style of therapy was a non-negotiable for me. A few sessions later, we had a scheduled appointment last month that she no-showed for. I refreshed my screen on the Grow therapy platform several times, and she did not come to the appointment. As a client, I should not have to hunt down this therapist for our scheduled appointment. To make matters worse, she did not reach out to me to apologize or ask when our next appointment would be. I switched therapists that day. As a provider myself, I found her to be unreliable, and although she was a sweet lady, I felt I needed to switch out therapists because I don't trust people who embellish their credentials. As a trained EMDR therapist myself, I understand the amount of hours and work it takes to train for this service, and it's extremely misleading to say you are trained in something you clearly aren't. Ultimately, the lack of communication was the final straw for me. Proceed with caution if you choose this therapist.
