Dug around to find a place where I could comment on my experience with P.A. Melissa Paules on 5.30.24 in the E.R. at Frederick Health (Frederick Memorial Hospital, 7th St, Frederick, MD). I went in thinking I had a hernia.....and left with a cancer diagnosis. The news was delivered by 'Melissa' with such a matter-of-fact, drama-free manner....as in, 'here's what we KNOW, here's what remains unclear' and 'here's your next step.' Next came a question that is all too often omitted....'Do you understand everything I just told you? Do you have any questions for me?' Well, yes annnnd .....a million. She addressed my general questions, but she stressed that if I follow the ONE discharge direction given to me and make an immediate appointment with specialists? The questions would be answered by professionals who serve and treat this and ONLY this diagnosis. She did not leave my side until, it seemed, she was certain I understood my situation and directions. She said I could call anytime.
