Based on my experiences, I think Dr. I is a good doctor. However, overall, I feel the Kaiser SD Urology Department is poorly run. They do not allow the doctors to spend an adequate amount of time with patients to have a discussion or understand their condition. I recently was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer and the experience was really horrible. It was all phone appointments except for the biopsy. Receiving the information about my diagnosis was over three phone calls for a total of 36 minutes. The "cancer education" call with their Nurse Educator was ten minutes. It is totally unacceptable patient care to give someone a new cancer diagnosis that way. This is one of the most difficult things I have dealt with in my life and it was made so much worse because of how Kaiser handled it. While I think Dr. I is a good physician, the way the department is run and how they expect doctors to practice limits his ability to provide good care. Not what you need when you have cancer.
